class 105 (prototype) to class 101 (volume production)

105 Mold

 The 105 mold was created at the cheapest price possible to make the minimum number of plastic prototype parts to be tested. 

 

  • Goal: Prototype Testing
  • Cycle Life: less than 500 times
  • Lead Time: 7-15 Days
  • Tolerance: ± 0.02mm

103 Mold

 103 molds refer to medium-sized production molds with less than 500,000 cycles. The 103 die is a very popular die for low to medium production volumes.


  • Goal: Low-volume Production
  • Cycle Life: Less than 500,000 times
  • Lead Time: 10-30 Days
  • Tolerance: ± 0.02mm

104 Mold

 104 molds are generally less than 100,000 cycles, suitable for small batch manufacturing. Prices range from low to moderate.


  • Goal: Low Volume Manufacturing
  • Cycle Life: Less than 100,000 times
  • Lead Time: 10-30 Days
  • Tolerance: ± 0.02mm

102 Mold

 

The 102 mold is a medium to high volume tooling for parts that require tight tolerances. This is a high-quality, relatively high-priced mold.

  • Goal: Medium-volume Production
  • Cycle Life: Less than 1000,000 times
  • Lead Time: 10-30 Days
  • Tolerance: ± 0.02mm

101 Mold

 Over 1,000,000 cycles, 101 mold is designed for the manufacture of extremely high volume plastic parts. 101 molds are the most expensive and made with only the highest quality steel materials.


  • Goal: High-volume Production
  • Cycle Life: Over 1,000,000 cycles
  • Lead Time: 10-30 Days
  • Tolerance: ± 0.02mm
